A design process should be simple.

The easier it is to understand the better the function of the process. Everyone needs to engage with it so having some easy to understand rules will help.

Why should it be anything else? Your brand is important, so turn off the phone and concentrate.

Why should the process be anything but simple, after all we are all busy people and want to cut to the chase.

4 Steps to greatness

Step 1
Discovery

We like to come into the process blind. What, I hear you ask, Why? Because we don’t want to be influenced by outside factors. It makes the difficult challenges simple to solve.

Step 2
Strategy

At this stage we are full of information, we a good knowledge of your market and your strengths and weaknesses. At this point we create the road map to your success.

Step 3
Design

The strategy informs the design. If you give a designer a blank piece of paper, you will end up with the same blank paper at the end of the day. But give a designer the inspiration and the direction. Wow, you are in for a treat.

Step 4
Application

Your design is born. It now needs to be seen on your applications. How it looks on your stationery, website and social media or just on you. Each touch-point is as important as the other. There is no point spending hours and hours creating a brand if you’re going to stick it on a crappy pen.

Launch

You have everything ready. Now you are ready to tell the world. You’re ready for business.

The goal of a designer is to listen, observe, understand, sympathize, empathize, synthesize, and glean insights that enable him or her to ‘make the invisible visible.
